Limerick are the Munster hurling champions for the first time since 1996, following a comprehensive 0-24 to 0-15 win over Cork at the Gaelic Grounds.

The first half was a tight affair, with the sides tied on 0-10 each but with Cork perhaps looking the better side. Limerick went to the dressing room with advantage firmly in hand however, as Cork’s Patrick Horgan was shown a straight red card in the dying moments of the half.

In the second half the numerical advantage on the field gradually turned to numerical superiority on the scoreboard as Limerick pulled away, outscoring Cork by 14 points to 5 in the second half.
