Leona Maguire has continued her impressive season in America by winning The Annika Award.

Named in honour of former World number one, Annika Sorenstam, the Award is presented each year to the "outstanding female collegiate golfer" in America. 

The Cavan-born star is the first player to win the award on two separate occasions.

Maguire's win has given her a spot in the Evian Championship later this year. The tournament in August in one of women's golf's five majors. 

With three tournament wins this season, and no finishes outside the top-six, Maguire has been the outstanding golfer in America, cementing her place as the best amateur in the World. 

Sorenstam said Maguire has "an amazing future ahead of herself", after announcing the 22-year-old's second win.

"It's a very unique award", Maguire said after the win. She said it was "a big deal" to win the award, that was named after the Swedish legend.
