Neil Lennon has admitted Glasgow Celtic striker Gary Hooper will probably be leaving the club in the near future.
Hooper has attracted interest from a number of English clubs, with Hull and Norwich both having bids rejected this year. However, the striker has just one year remaining on his contract and Celtic appear to have accepted they will not be able to convince him to stay at the club beyond the end of his current deal.
Hooper has been Celtic’s top scorer in each of the last three seasons, scoring 82 goals since joining the Glasgow club in 2010.
Neil Lennon made the admission following Celtic’s 3-0 friendly defeat to Union Berlin. "It will be difficult to convince Gary to stay," he said to reporters after the game.
"He has not featured much in pre-season…So he'd have a bit of catching up to do and I don't know where his mind is at the minute,” he added.
"Has he played his last game for Celtic? Never say never but it's looking more and more that way,” Lennon said.
