Leitrim will be on the hunt for a new boss after Shane Ward stepped down as manager county footballers.

Following their Connacht championship exit to Roscommon, Leitrim beat Waterford in a first round qualifier.

But their championship campaign was brought to a halt with an 11-point defeat to Sligo earlier this month.

Despite calls from team captain Gary Reynolds for the management team to remain in place, Ward has now decided to announce his resignation.

Leitrim had also finished second bottom of Allianz Football League Division 4 with two wins from seven.
