Jose Mourinho had plenty to say after his side slumped to another defeat in the Premier League at home against Stouhampton before the international break, and some of it has landed him in a bit of trouble.

Speaking in the wake of that loss, he criticised the refereeing and the fact that they "are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea", adding that if the FA want to punish him then they are free to do so.

They've taken him up on that invite and decided today to give him a suspended one match stadium ban, as well as a £50,000 fine for his comments.

An official statement from the FA outlined that he admitted to breaching the rules with his comments, and that "it was alleged his remarks constituted improper conduct in that they alleged and/or implied bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or brought the game into disrepute".

The statement also made clear that the ban will be effective immediately "should he be found by an Independent Regulatory Commission to have committed a further breach of FA Rule E3 for any comment or statement to or through the media before 13 October 2016".
