John Giles believes Everton defender John Stones has the potential to be the best English defender since 1966 World Cup winning great Bobby Moore.

The England youngster has made a couple of mistakes which emphasise his youth but clearly has great potential and is extremely comfortable on the ball.

And Leeds and Ireland legend John has high expectations from what he's seen of the 21-year-old former Barnsley centre-back.

"Stones, I think is going to be the best central defender since Bobby Moore. He certainly has the potential to do so," John told Off The Ball tonight.

John also gave his take on the future of Everton's Ireland duo Aiden McGeady and Darron Gibson who are set to go out on loan to get the game-time needed to try and secure a squad place for Euro 2016.

"They won't get the playing time, not at Everton they won't," he said and with salary considerations ending a potential move to Celtic for McGeady, Giles says the winger has "to sacrifice something" ahead of an important few months if he wants to stay in the picture.

John also spoke to us about how impressed he has been with Tottenham so far this season.
