Cork City manager John Caulfield expressed satisfaction with his side's 2-0 win away to Levadia Tallinn on Thursday evening.

Goals from Steven Beattie and Garry Buckley look set to grant Cork safe passage through to the second round of the Europa League qualifying stages and speaking after the game, Caulfield said he was pleased with the result.

"We're really happy to go home 2-0 up, but we know we have to put the tie to bed next week," he said.

He commented on the difficult conditions in the Estonian city of Pärnu and said he was satisfied with what his team were able to produce.

"Conditions were difficult. When you play on a pitch with a running track and it's very open, the wind can be very strong and swirly.

"Even the pitch itself was very hard. There wasn't a lot of water on it, so it slowed the game. In the first half we were good and felt that we needed to score.

"Levadia were going with the long ball and it was difficult because it was carrying long to the goalkeeper. We were very happy to get the goal before half-time.

"Second half, we didn't play as well as I thought we could have. We tried passing it more but our intensity dropped. Certainly some of the lads, especially after the Derry match last week, ran out of legs."
