Former Newcastle United manager John Carver has been appointed as the manager of Cyprus' AC Omonoia Nocosia.

Carver, who was sacked as the manager of Newcastle after winning just three games in five months as the cartaker manager in 2015, will be coaching a side who have won the Cyprus top division title 20 times in the past.

The English coach has little doubt in his ability, infamously stating, "I still think I’m the best coach in the Premier League. That’s what I think. Now there’s nothing wrong with that. But I still do."

The statement from the Cyprus club said:

"The Association has announced that it has agreed John Carver to take over the coaching of our team. Mr. Carver is in America for personal reasons, but will break his journey to begin work immediately for our team.

"Mr. Carver worked at Newcastle, where he served as head coach , and assistant coach , under top coaches like Bobby Robson and Alan Pardew. He also worked at Leeds United, Toronto FC and Sheffield United."
