Today marks the final round of the year's final major and it looks as though we're in for an exhilarating finish.

Jason Day stormed into the lead last night, still in pursuit of a maiden major championship, finishing on a third round 66 to add to his rounds of 68 and 67 already posted at Whistling Straits.

Not far behind sits Texan prodigy, Jordan Spieth, who is in search of his third major of the year and is priming himself for a final day assault on the summit.

Matt Jones had entered the third day as outright leader, but eight birdies and one eagle saw his compatriot, Day, storm into the lead and hold pole position in the race for the PGA Championship.

Rory McIlroy sunk a huge 64 foot eagle putt to kick start his drive to the top of the leaderboard, but couldn't find his rhythm claiming six birdies but conceding four bogeys.

He sits nine shots adrift of the lead and it would take nothing shot of a spectacular round to give him any chance of winning, but as we've seen in the past it's certainly not beyond him.

Action gets underway at around 2.45pm Irish time.
