Monaghan's Ulster final victory may have taken the shine off Donegal this year for some observers, but former Mayo manager James Horan believes there is life in Rory Gallagher's team yet.

Donegal face Galway in an All-Ireland qualifier this Saturday, and Horan told Off The Ball that he is still expecting the Ulster men to come out on top.

"I still think Donegal have such a caliber of players [like] the Murphys, Mac Niallais and the Neil Gallaghers in the middle of the field. Karl Lacey is a huge loss but I still think Donegal are operating at a level above where Galway are at the moment," he said.

"There's this idea that Galway are getting stronger and getting more aggressive in their play, but that ball on the ground to be won around the middle, I still fancy that that's a Donegal man that has the power and desire to win that ball more so than a Galway man. I still feel that at the moment and if they get sufficient ball around there and get it into McBrearty and the guys inside, that Donegal are still too strong for Galway."   

While our Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson thinks Galway are an "incredibly good price at 5/2", Horan disagrees when it comes to the midfield, saying, "I haven't seen them when the battle and fight is at its greatest, I haven't seen them drive the Galway team forward".
