The First training session of the new Republic of Ireland regime was held this lunchtime, ahead of this Friday's friendly international against Latvia.

Dan McDonnell, Football Correspondent with The Irish Independent was there and spoke with Jonathan Healy on Newstalk Lunchtime.

Although the media were only allowed stay for the first 15 minutes, fans who turned up were allowed to watch the whole training session.

During the time the media were there, McDonnell describes it as a smiley affair, with John O’Shea jokingly inviting Roy Keane to join in the training session… Keane did not take him on his offer.
