As you may have seen in the news, a group of fans of Major League Soccer club New York Red Bulls and counteparts from their 2-year-old neighbours New York City FC were involved in a minor bout of violence (soundtracked with clichéd cries of 'Who are you?' in affected English accents) which you can watch below.

You may also have noticed that the New York derby is a mere three matches old which got us wondering how the hell copycat hooliganism could have broken out so soon?

To find out Off The Ball spoke to Clinton Yates of the Washington Post and he made an interesting point:

"To me, it's a phoney transposing of English or European culture onto American soccer culture without any sort of natural creativity."
