Ireland will be sending an act to next year's Eurovision Song Contest in Denmark, RTE has confirmed.

This year Ireland received just 5 points for Ryan Dolan's performance of dance track Only Love Survives, placing us last out of the 26 competing countries. After the programme many took to Twitter suggesting that Ireland pull out of next year's competition.

Despite its poor performance at Eurovision Only Love Survives went on to chart in 30 countries.

Emmelie de Forest won the competition for Denmark with the song Only Teardrops.

Next year's competition will take place on Saturday May 10th 2014, preceded by two semi-finals on Tuesday the 6th and Thursday the 8th. Horsens, Herning and Copenhagen are all in the running to host the show, which was watched by more than 170 million last May. A final decision will be made later this summer.
