Ireland's 1948 Grand Slam winning rugby great Paddy Reid has passed away.

The Limerick man, who also played for Munster and Garryowen, was 91.

A winner of four caps for Ireland, the former centre played in three of the country's four wins that secured the Five Nations Grand Slam in 1948, the last Irish team to achieve that feat until it was again completed in 2009.

Reid left for England in 1948 and made the switch to rugby league.
