During his Premier League career, Julian Dicks was seen as something of a hard man, prone to picking up red and yellow cards.

At West Ham, he was seen as a club hero during the '90s under managers like Billy Bonds, Lou Macari and Harry Redknapp, while his Liverpool career lasted just one season after being signed by Graeme Souness.

So, Dicks has many a story to tell and also has strong views about the direction football is going. Fortunately for us, he was happy to look back on his career on this week's Team 33.

He spoke about the bitterness which followed the early end of his career through injury, revealed what ex-England assistant coach John Gorman said about the link between his skinhead haircut and his international prospects and who the best player he played with was.

He also gave an insight into the man-management styles of Redknapp, Bonds, Macari and Souness during his time under each boss, and the ex-team-mates he is still in touch with like Robbie Fowler.

The current West Ham Ladies boss also talked about going from a reluctance to go into coaching to being in the running to become Finn Harps manager and moving on to his current role.

Plus, he explained how Premier League football is less "enjoyable" to watch.
