Newcastle boss John Carver believes he is the best coach in the Premier League and says he never offered to resign.
The Magpies are just two points above the Premier League's relegation zone, and have lost their last eight games.
A statement was released earlier this week saying Carver would stay in charge for the remaining three matches of the season.
That followed what the club described as "frank dialogue", but Carver says he has huge belief in his own abilities.
"I still think I'm the best coach in the Premier League. That's what I think. Now, there's nothing wrong with that. But I still do and if I have the right tools, I can do the job," said Carver.
