Hurling Championship round-up: Kerry make history in their Leinster bow

Kerry made history with victory in their Leinster Hurling Championship qualifier group game this afternoon.

They beat Carlow by 2-19 to 0-17 at Austin Stack Park in their first ever Leinster Senior Hurling match, with Shane Nolan top scoring for Kerry with 1-4. John Egan also got a goal from the Kingdom with a personal haul of 1-3.

Meanwhile, Westmeath came out on top against Offaly by a 2-22 to 1-11 scoreline at Cusack Park.

Eoin Price and Derek McNicholas got the goals for the winners.

It was history of its own for Westmeath as it's the county's first championship win over Offaly since 1976.
