Last month, a new biography on Louis Van Gaal made some pretty hefty claims about Louis Van Gaal and what he is like privately.

Tonight we were joined by O Louis' author Hugo Borst who has met the Dutchman on numerous occasions and spoke to us about his perception of the Manchester United manager.

"He is strange. He is a self-confident man, a very good coach and what he likes to do is playing the boss. If he can play the boss, he feels very comfortable," said Borst, who is also a TV personality in his native Netherlands.

"With Louis Van Gaal, there's always something to do. He's a very colourful man," said Borst, who replied "sometimes" when asked if the former Ajax and Barcelona coach is good company.

He went on to say that if he does not trust someone or does not regard someone to be "competent", then he can be a "pain in the neck".

But he was surprised at the parts that the British tabloids picked up on, and admitted that people in Holland were unsure how to understand the book.

Borst spoke about how Van Gaal remains a modern coach, who continues to read widely about psychology and the brain.

He also detailed the relationship with Johan Cruyff and said that they "won't be friends in this life" and believes Van Gaal is more important than the former Netherlands No 14.
