It’s half time at Suncorp Stadium, Queensland and the Lions have found themselves involved in a serious test for the first time on their tour as they go in at the break 16-7 to the good over the Queensland Reds.

The Reds started brightly, with some exciting, easy on the eye rugby dominating as the Lions scrambled more than once to prevent their hosts registering an early score. Tommy Bowe made a dazzling run through the Reds lines, setting up Alex Cuthbert but unfortunately the Welshman couldn’t quite get the ball over the line.

It was Owen Farrell who opened the scoring with a penalty on 14 minutes, before the Australians hit back just a couple of minutes later as Luke Morahan crossed the Lions’ line to put Gatland’s men behind.

Owen Farrell had a try attempt slapped away on the line, before Tom Youngs crossed to put the tourists back in front.

A conversion, and a later penalty, from Farrell leave the Lions ahead but knowing they face a stern test in the second half.
