Hayes Hotel in Thurles, the birthplace of the GAA, has been sold at auction today.
The hotel has been sold for €650,000, subject to approval and the prospective new owner remains anonymous.
Michael Cusack and his fellow GAA founders met at the hotel in 1884 to establish an organisation that would seek to protect Irish sport and culture.

The hotel went into receivership last April and remained open despite the appointment of receivers.
