Xavi Hernandez is to leave Barcelona after the Champions League final against Juventus.
The midfielder, who has played more games for the Catalan side than anyone else is to join Qatari side Al-Saad on a two year deal this summer.
The 35 year old was offered a contract to stay in Barcelona until 2018, but claimed in a press conference yesterday that he has already made his decision to leave.
Graham Hunter joined Ger on last night's Off the Ball Football Show and claimed the World Cup winner had a chance to join New York City last summer and was very close to make to move to MLS.
At yesterday's press conference, Xavi stated; “Leaving last summer would have been a little too early. I have had the whole year to think about it and it has been a difficult decision.”
He has received criticism for moving to Qatar, in light of the workers deaths in preparation for the 2022 World Cup.
His final season at Barcelona may end with a treble as the side face Athletic Bilbao in eight days time in the Copa del Rey final. The following week in Berlin, he will look to win his fourth Champions League title as Barcelona face Juventus.
Graham and Ger spoke about his career at the Camp Nou, his reasons for moving to Qatar and whether the move will damage his legacy in light of the controversy surrounding the future World Cup host.
