Ireland's postponed Guinness Six Nations trip to France is likely to be played at the Stade de France on October the 31st, according to French Rugby president Bernard Laporte.

The game, which could be a Championship decider, was scheduled to be played on the last weekend of the tournament before the COVID-19 pandemic ground the competition to a halt, with Ireland still to play Italy and France.

“Yes, France-Ireland is announced for October 31st," French Rugby president and incoming World Rugby vice-president Laporte said when asked about whether the Six Nations will be completed within the calendar year.

World Rugby are due to make a decision on the return of international rugby by the end of this month, with the northern-hemisphere sides keen to complete this season's Six Nations ahead of the November internationals.

Ireland could host Italy at the Aviva Stadium a week before their trip to Paris with matches between Wales and Scotland and Italy against England on that same weekend.

The English RFU are planning to host a tournament between the Six Nations sides and two of Fiji, Japan and Georgia in November, should the southern-hemisphere teams be unable to travel to play the currently planned fixtures.
