Ireland's Rose-Anne Galligan beat Sonia O'Sullivan's 19-year-old 800 metre national record last night at the Diamond League meeting in London.

Galligan finished finished in sixth place in a top quality field at the 2012 Olympic stadium and her time of 2 minutes 0.58 seconds saw her take just over a tenth of a second off the time set by O'Sullivan in St Petersburg in 1994.

Galligan will now travel home to compete in this weekend's Woodies DIY National Senior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium.
