Felix Magath has been appointed as Fulham's new manager, replacing Rene Meulensteen.
The German has signed an 18 month deal with the Cottagers, becoming their third manager of a disappointing season.
Explaining their decision, a Fulham statement said: "Our club has shown promise in recent matches, but the fact is we have not won a league match since January 1. Given our form, we can no longer merely hope that our fortunes will finally turn.
"And with 12 matches remaining and at least four points separating us from safety, we certainly can no longer post empty results. Action was required."
60-year-old Magath is a managerial veteran, with a vast amount of Bundesliga experience.
He has managed Hamburg SV, Bayern Munich, Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Werder Bremen, Eintracht Frankfurt, FC Nurnberg and Schalke 04 since 1995.
Magath has won three Bundsliga titles as a manager with Bayern (2004/05 and 2005/06) and Wolfsburg (2008/09).
