Defending champion Vincenzo Nibali won today's 19th Stage of the Tour de France.

The Italian, who has struggled during this year's race, claimed an impressive solo victory during the penultimate stage of racing in the Alps.

Team Sky's Chris Froome has maintained his hold on the yellow jersey, but his lead has been whittled down to just over two and a half minutes after his rival, Nairo Quintana  attacked during the final climb of the day to claw back time in the overall standings.

However Froome still has a 2 minute 38 seconds advantage.
