Marion Le Pen, granddaughter of Front National founder Jean-Marie Le Pen and niece of current party president Marine Le Pen has hit out at Karim Benzema after the French striker talked about why he had been left out of the national team for the Euros.
Speaking to Marca, the Real Madrid striker said that manager Didier Deschamps had bowed to pressure from a racist section of French society in not picking him.
It seems those comments did not sit well with the Front National politician, as she took to Twitter to state that Benzema was born and raised in France, and that he was now spitting on the country with his comments.

Le Pen went on to add that if he was so unhappy, then he could go and play for "his country", Algeria.

Speaking at the Off the Ball roadshow on Wednesday night, former French footballer Marcel Desailly said that Benzema's omission was controversial, but "the French Federation, the coach have decided that, no, it's better to leave him out. Yes, he is our top striker, we love him whatever, but it's too risky to bring a guy like this who had too much controversial things around him."
