It might have come sooner, but Frank Lampard's retirement from England duty finally spells the end of the Three Lions' so-called Golden Generation.

Other than Lampard and Steven Gerrard, all of the original members of that group of players had already retired from the international scene by the time the 2014 World Cup kicked off and thus Lampard's decision seems like the end of an era.

Tonight, football writer Miguel Delaney and The Daily Mirror's chief football writer Martin Lipton joined us on the line to talk about the tarnished legacy of a generation that never proved to be golden.
