Roy O'Donovan has been handed an eight-week ban by the A-League over headbutting an opponent in a game last weekend.

The former Cork City star currently plays for Central Coast Mariners in Australia and was only given a yellow card for the incident. He was caught by cameras striking Manny Muscat last weekend, but the incident was missed by the referee.

O'Donovan only received a yellow card at the time, but sadly for the Cork native, he has been banned for eight weeks. Muscat has also being banned. The Wellington Phoenix star has been given a two-week ban for using his elbow on O'Donovan.
