The five candidate cities to host the 2024 Olympic Games have been announced by the IOC this morning.

Hamburg and Budapest are both looking to host the Games for the first time in the cities histories. The other three cities have previously hosted the Olympic Games before.

Paris and Los Angeles are both looking to join London as the only city to host the Games on three occasions. The French capital hosted the Games in 1900 and 1924. Los Angeles hosted the Games in 1932 and 1984.

Rome is the final candidate city looking to host the event. The Italian capital previously held the games in 1960.

The winners will follow Toyko as the host city. The winning bid will be announced at the 130th IOC Session in Lima, Peru in 2017.
