FC Porto will be the first football team in the world to broadcast a live game with multi-camera, immersive virtual reality goggles Gear VR. It will allow people tuning in to watch the game from a 360 degree perspective on the night. 

The FC Porto versus Benfica game in Estadio de Dragao at 7.15pm on Sunday will be filmed from five angles and offer spectators of the game various different views from around the stadium.

Pedro Proenca, the president of the League, believes it is "a pioneering event."

He continued "We are very proud that the League is associated with these partners and this revolutionary initiative in the paradigm of viewing a football game."

If ticket sales are plummeting, an experience like this will only further such a dilemma. It remains to be seen just how exciting an experience it will provide.
