Giovanni Trapattoni has left several of his more senior squad members at home for the trip to New York, to face Spain.

Marc Wilson, Jon Walters, Wes Hoolahan, Kieren Westwood, Richard Dunne, John O’Shea and Glenn Whelan have all withdrawn from the squad.

Robbie Keane will travel, following on from his hat-trick in last night’s World Cup qualifier against the Faroe Islands.
