Manchester United legend Eric Cantona has pledged to house and feed a refugee family.
The Frenchman told a French radio station France Inter that his own grandparents' experience of seeking refuge in another country has inspired him to organise help for a refugee family at his home in Marseille for at least two years.
"If you house someone who does not have the right to work, then they need to eat to. My maternal grandparents were Spanish Republicans who fled Franco by crossing the Pyrenees on foot. That being our story, it certainly played a role," he said.
Cantona also recently pledged his support to fans of English non-league club Bath City in their attempts to make the club community owned.
