After more than a decade in the green and gold of Kerry, Eoin Brosnan has called time on his inter-county career for the second and final time.

The three-time All Ireland winner was on Off The Ball tonight to explain his decision to step aside and why there will be no temptation for the 33-year-old to return this time.

"Personally I wasn't happy with 2013. All of my career I was lucky enough not to have much injury problems. But then there was a run of injuries and I struggled to get up to the fitness levels that I felt I needed. I wasn't happy with my form," said the Dr Crokes club man.

"Before there were no kids on the scene but we've three young kids at the moment and they need a bit of my time. With family and work commitments, I felt that now was the right time to make the call."

The versatile back also admitted that the strain of the modern inter-county schedule proved too taxing.

"I was lucky enough to be brought into the panel by Paidi O'Se in 2000. You were training on a Tuesday and Thursday and then you might have a match on the weekend. Now everything is structured and monitored. So now on Mondays and Fridays, you do a work session before work, then you'd train Tuesday and Thursday and then if you're playing an away game at the weekend in the National League, you could be gone from Saturday morning until Sunday night. It was another 25 hours on top of the working week."
