England completed their Euro 2016 preparations with a 1-0 win at home to ten-man Portugal at Wembley.

Manchester United defender Chris Smalling scored the game's only goal five minutes from time. The goal helped England to a 100% record in their three Euro 2016 warm-up games after previous wins over Turkey and Australia..

The goal was Smalling's first for his country. It caps off a memorable week for the 26-year-old after captaining the team for the first time, against Australia.

England's task was made easier by playing against ten-men for almost an hour. Centre-half Bruno Alves was sent off on 35 minutes of a dangerous tackle on Harry Kane.

Despite the high boot, Kane continued playing and was eventually substituted on 78 minutes in place of Daniel Sturridge.

England begin their Euro 2016 campaign on June 11th in Marseille. Roy Hodgson's side will also play games against local rivals Wales and Slovakia.

Portugal meet Estonia in their final warm-up game on Wednesday in Lisbon, before they open their Euro 2016 campaign against Iceland on June 14th.
