The opening game of the Rugby World Cup provided no upset as England defeated Fiji 35-11.

The tournament hosts romped to victory in the end but faced some scary moments and only lead by seven points at one point in the first half despite being huge favourites.

The victory might prove significant considering how tight Pool A could be with Australia and Wales also in England's group.

England raced out to a 15-0 lead with tries from Mike Brown and a penaltty try. Fiji responded, however, with a Nemani Nadolo try and the half ended with a converted George Ford penalty. The score at half time was 18-8.

England scored another try through Mike Brown, which was answered by a Billy Vunipola for Fiji but the 83rd minute Owen Farrell try that was only confirmed after several viewings by the video judges.

England will be glad of the extra points at the end and here's hoping to more games played in a similar fashion tomorrow.
