The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre has announced it will host ‘ELF THE MUSICAL’ this December.

Based on the 2003 hit movie ELF, starring Will Ferrell, the show kicks off the Christmas season on December 16, 2014 for a strictly limited run.

The cult classic tells the hilarious tale of Buddy, a young orphan child who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported back to the North Pole.

Unaware that he is actually human, Buddy’s enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.

With Santa’s permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father, discover his true identity, and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Featuring songs by Tony Award nominees Matthew Sklar & Chad Beguelin, the show has dazzled audiences in the US with the New York Times saying it's: “splashy, peppy, sugar-sprinkled holiday entertainment!” that all the family will enjoy.

Tickets go on sale next Friday 13 June.
