Dublin hurling boss Ger Cunningham has hit out at suggestions that Dublin players lack the skill to win an All-Ireland title.

The Dubs fell short against Waterford in yesterday's quarter-final and amid the clichés about the ultimate abilities of hurlers in Dublin, Cunningham is having none of it.

Speaking to Newstalk's Oisin Langan ahead of the Bord Gais Energy Munster Under-21 final, he said: "There's some really top class hurlers in Dublin who have as good a touch or hurling ability as any players in the country. I think we were unfortunate not to get at least to the Leinster final at U21 level. I think it was a game we could have won against Kilkenny. But there are some good players in that U21 team. The minors are in the All-Ireland semi-final in two weeks time so there's a lot of work being done at underage level."
