Addison Russell's grand slam put the icing on an incredible 9-3 Cubs victory at Progressive Field last night and has now forced the World Series into a seventh and final game.

The Cubs, who have not lifted the title since 1908, trailed this series 3-1 after four games and looked destined to let this opportunity slip through their fingers. However, a rousing comeback has seen them clinch the last two games and hand them the momentum heading into the decider.

Russell hit this Grand Slam in the third inning to put the Cubs 7-0 ahead and place them right back in the driving seat ahead of the final game on Wednesday night.

"I think tomorrow we're going to come to the clubhouse with a lot of confidence and a lot of energy," Russell said after the game. "Game 7, it's a kid's dream."

Kris Bryant, who notched four hits and a solo home run, said: "I feel like that was the hit of the night there. Anytime you get four runs on one swing, and to go up, I think it was 7-0, that was huge. He's had a lot of big home runs this postseason. That might have been the biggest."

With the Cleveland Indians not having won the World Series since 1948 and the Cubs since 1908, one way or another history will be made on Wednesday night.

Action gets underway this evening just after midnight Irish time.
