There will be no Croke Park Classic American Football game in 2016.

The GAA have ruled out a meeting of Boston College and Georgia Tech at headquarters next year.

They put the decision down to the strength of the dollar against the euro, coupled with a lack of support from government agencies.

In a statement, they said: "The GAA announced today that it will not be hosting a proposed American Football game between Boston College and Georgia Tech in 2016.

"The GAA stated that the strength of the dollar against the euro means that the staging of the game at Croke Park was no longer viable for the Association without significant support from government agencies."

Last August, Penn State and University of Central Florida went head-to-head at GAA HQ, in a contest attended by over 50,000 people.
