A late Cork surge guaranteed their place in the All Ireland quarter finals over Clare as they won by 0-20 to 0-17 in Thurles.

Five unanswered points from Cork ensured victory for Jimmy Barry-Murphy's side as Clare failed to scored in the last 15 minutes.

The sides were level eight times throughout on front of almost 25,000 fans as Cork led by 0-10 to 0-9 at the break. Patrick Horgan was top scorer with 0-8 for Cork.

In the earlier game, Dublin defeated Limerick by a point to reach the quarter finals.

Ger Cunningham's side came from nine points down midway through the first half to win by 1-17 to 1-16. Paul Ryan scored 0-12, with half of those coming from frees and Dublin now go into the quarter final draw.

Dotsy O'Callaghan scored the crucial goal for the Dubs, eight minutes from time and the Leinster side held out to record a famous victory. The only blight on Dublin's day was a red card for Chris Crummy in injury time for a second yellow card.
