UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is targeting a September super fight with Floyd Mayweather.
Speaking to the Los Angeles Times, the Irishman said: [September] "is what I’m thinking. That’s what the word is. That’s what we’re close to doing.
“I’ve tried to talk to Floyd. I flew to Las Vegas to have talks with Floyd and then he retired. He just doesn’t want to see me. He’s petrified. Wouldn’t you be? No one knows what to expect with me, and they shouldn’t.
“Because I don’t know what to expect either,” he added.

The unbeaten Mayweather hasn't fought since out pointing Andre Berto in September 2015 and has toyed with the idea of taking on the Dubliner in a boxing match. He even announced that he was officially coming out of retirement to fight McGregor.

McGregor hasn't fought since beating Eddie Alvarez last November at UFC 205 to add the lightweight title to his featherweight crown. He is yet to schedule a fight as he is expecting the birth of his first child.
