Seattle Sounders striker, Clint Dempsey, has been banned from the U.S Open Cup for at least two years following an incident in which he ripped up a referee's notebook.
Dempsey had already been banned for three games when he got a straight red for the incident.
In a statement from the United States Soccer Federation they outlined the terms of Dempsey's ban.
"A total of six U.S. Open Cup matches or the next two years of U.S. Open Cup competition, whichever is greater. In addition, Dempsey has been fined an undisclosed amount," the federation said in a statement.
Dempsey has decided against appealing the ban and will instead serve it. You can watch the incident which caused him to be banned below:
