Aston Villa have announced the season-long loan signing of Manchester United's Tom Cleverley 17 hours after the transfer deadline closed.
The deal was agreed before 11pm last night, but there was a wait for the Premier League to confirm that paperwork had been completed on time.
With his parent club having signed Daley Blind and Ander Herrera, Cleverley's place in the midfield pecking order had diminished under Louis Van Gaal, leading the England international to follow his team-mate and close friend Danny Welbeck out of Old Trafford - albeit temporarily.
Spanish side Valencia had also bid for Cleverley's services on a permanent basis.
