It was a mixed night for the English teams in Champions League action tonight.

Chelsea missed a penalty and scored from the spot in their 4-0 win at home to Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Eden Hazard blazed his penalty over the bar in the first half, but Willian's goal and a penalty from Oscar had the Blues in control.

They rounded off the win with goals from substitute Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas.

But Arsenal had Olivier Giroud sent off in their 2-1 defeat in Croatia against Dinamo Zagreb.

The Gunners fell behind when Josip Pivaric shot bounced into the net off Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Things went from bad to worse when Giroud received a second yellow and Junior Fernandes headed in a corner with ease.

Theo Walcott pulled one back but it was a little too late.
