Chelsea came from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 at Stamford Bridge this evening as they took advantage of the Liverpool’s earlier dropped points to move clear in second place and keep in touch with Arsenal.
Southampton opened the scoring after just 13 seconds when Jay Rodriguez pounced on a loose backpass from Michael Essien.
Chelsea got a foothold in the game soon after and were back level shortly after half-time, when Gary Cahill poked the ball home from a goal mouth scramble after 55 minutes.
John Terry added a second with a fine header on 62 minutes and Demba Ba finished the game off in the ninetieth minute.
Chelsea are now 4 points off league leaders Arsenal, while Southampton remain in seventh.
Elsewhere, Manchester City were 3-0 winners over Swansea, moving into third in the table.
