Chelsea captain John Terry has used his Instagram account to argue his case after receiving a red card against Peterborough United in the FA Cup.

The experienced Blues skipper was sent off in the 4-1 victory and says he will appeal against it.

He says referee Kevin Friend will realise he "didn't touch" striker Lee Angol when he watches the challenge back.

Writing on Instagram, he said: "What a great feeling being back on the pitch today, albeit only for 67 mins after my red card which I will be appealing and hope the FA and the ref will look at it and realise I didn't touch @leeangol."

The match was Terry's first appearance for Chelsea since featuring for six minutes against Everton in a 5-0 Premier League win at the start of November.

Injuries have affected the 36 year old this season since early Autumn.

That has resulted eight appearances this season, including five in the Premier League.

The one club is also behind the back three of David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta in manager Antonio Conte's pecking order at Chelsea.

His current contract at Stamford Bridge will expire on June 30th 2017, with his future beyond this season unclear.
