The man who stood in as Brad Pitt’s body double in summer hit World War Z earned just £4.44 (€5.14) per hour for his troubles.

Scotsman David Paterson, 26, earned just £80 (€93) for his 18 hour day filming a scene in a Glasgow supermarket.

Meanwhile superstar Pitt earned a whopping €10 million.

Peterson told Daily Record: “Brad and I ran through the supermarket putting tins and jars into the trolley, acting out different scenes. I was just following his actions. I wore identical clothes to him – jeans, blue jacket and t-shirt. I had the same physique as him – we were both slim-built – though not any more, as I’ve put on weight since then.”

Paterson stayed in basic accommodation, wasn’t invited to the UK premiere and was told not to speak to Pitt while on set. But he doesn’t regret taking the job.

“I did it for the experience. You get asked to do something like that and you can’t really say no.”

After World War Z’s release date was pushed back in lieu of a script re-write it went on to gross $66 million in its opening weekend in North America, the highest figure for a live-action original film since 2009’s Avatar.

A sequel to the zombie epic was confirmed in June.
