Bohemian FC has unveiled its latest piece of artwork up at Dalymount Park and it is a face that will be familiar to music fans all around the world.

Ahead of this Friday's hotly anticipated (and sold out) SSE Airtricity League Premier Division clash between Bohemians and Shamrock Rovers, a mural of reggae legend Bob Marley has been revealed alongside the current tribute to Thin Lizzy and their iconic singer and proud Dubliner Phil Lynott.

Lynott's gig at Dalymount in August, 1977 is the stuff of legend - the Crumlin native strode onto the stage proclaiming, "The Jacks are back!", just hours after the Dublin footballers beat Kerry in the All-Ireland semi-final en route to winning Sam Maguire back-to-back.

However, not many people are aware that Bob Marley and The Wailers' famous 'Uprising' tour came to Dublin city in July, 1980 - less than a year before the Jamaican superstar passed away.

On the Midnight Raver blog, photographer Eddie Mallin tells the story that Dublin mainstays Bagatelle got the day's proceedings underway before news filtered through that Scottish funksters Average White Band had to cancel and were replaced by Small Faces guitarist Ronnie Lane and Friends.

Mallin also recalls Marley dedicating his iconic ballad 'Redemption Song' to the Irish struggle.

To remember the special day, the Gypsies Supporters Trust paid local artist Niall O’Lochlainn to adorn the gates at Dalymount with a fantastic looking artistic tribute to Bob alongside Philo.

A standard set-list from the Uprising tour:

  1. "Natural Mystic"
  2. "Positive Vibration"
  3. "Revolution"
  4. "I Shot the Sheriff"
  5. "War" / "No More Trouble"
  6. "Zimbabwe"
  7. "Zion Train"
  8. "No Woman, No Cry"
  9. "Jammin'"
  10. "Exodus"
  11. "Redemption Song"
  12. "Natty Dread"
  13. "Work"
  14. "Could You Be Loved"
  15. "Is This Love"
  16. "Get Up, Stand Up"
