Competing in his first World Cup final, Wexford teenager Bertram Allen last night won the bronze medal in Las Vegas.
Allen and his horse Molly Malone V led the event after the first day and came into yesterday's final round in third place with only 1 penalty point separating the top three.
After the final round, the 19 year old maintained his third place, finishing just one penalty point behind Swiss Olympic champion Steve Guerdat, with France's Penelope Leprevost finishing in silver.
Allen becomes only the fourth Irish star to win a medal at the FEI World Cup following in the footsteps of Eddie Macken, Trevor Coyle and Jessica Kuerten.
