Dublin forward  Bernard Brogan says the Mayo replay proved crucial to the team during the All-Ireland final victory against Kerry.

The Dubs are All-Ireland champions for the third time in five years but had to come through to semi-final clashes against Mayo this year.

Off The Ball's Colm 'Wooly' Parkinson met the team this morning and Brogan told him how the Mayo game helped them out in their quest two weeks later.

"The second Mayo game gave us the kick in the arse we needed. We are a bit naive or excited the first day and gave away a lot of fouls and indiscipline. So second game we were clued in and carried that into the Kerry game and were just a lot more cool and collected," he said.

Wooly also caught up with Jack McCaffrey, who has had a brilliant year but had been "very ill" leading into the match according to a couple of reports in the press earlier today.

But the 21-year-old left-half-back played down those reports, suggesting that it was nothing dramatic.

"I think it's a little bit over-stated. I just had a bit of food poisoning and was on a little drip for a while," McCaffrey said, adding that he was only on the drip for a couple of hours.
